COLLEGE FOOTBALL
TCU football players celebrate their first overtime victory since October 15, 2022 in their December 30, 2025 matchup against USC football for the Valero Alamo Bowl.
December 30, 2025, the TCU Horned Frogs faced off against the USC Trojans in the 33rd Alamo Bowl. Coming into the matchup TCU was heavily doubted, being the underdogs as USC entered the game as 6.5-point favorites. From the opening kickoff, TCU brought relentless energy throughout the entire game, never giving up. They were neck and neck with the Trojans keeping the game close with a 14-13 lead by halftime. As the intensity continued through the second half, neither team was willing to give an inch, but the Trojans began to develop a lead with the score at 24-14 having five minutes left in the fourth quarter. In those final moments, TCU delivered when it mattered most. The Horned Frogs were able to secure a touchdown and an eventual 3- point field goal to tie the game 24-24. The stadium erupted on their feet as the game headed into overtime. It was the fourth overtime in Alamo Bowl history. The atmosphere was electric as everyone waited to know what would happen next. USC struck first in overtime but was unable to score a touchdown due to the elite Horned Frogs defense. As the Horned Frogs had their turn for possession, #9 quarterback Ken Seals threw a 35-yard pass to #26 running back Jeremy Payne, who blew past defenders to ice the game and score a touchdown, putting the score at 30-27. The Horned Frogs celebrated a historic win in their home state, no longer the underdogs, but Alamo Bowl champions. An Alamo Bowl Miracle.

The famous saying, "Remember the Alamo", comes to pass as TCU gives fans something to remember, showing what it means to fight until the very end. Leading up to those final moments, there were plays that added momentum for the Horned Frogs, including #3 wide receiver Major Everhart's 11-yard rush bringing the ball close enough to the endzone for quarterback #9 Ken Seals to have a 1-yard touchdown.
